UGC Gold Highlander Season 18
Week 7 Review and Week 8 Preview – The Final Countdown
by VoxDei and whymeo
Lakeside proved to be as awesome as I was expecting it with some close games even in the 4-0 and 4-1 matches. This also extended to other divisions as well. However, we are going to move from the action-packed KOTH extravaganza back to Payload, although Badwater does have its fair share of exciting moments.
A pretty good W/L spread between Home and Away and only 3 games ended 4-0.

meo’s Writeup: Although quails took this match fairly easily, this game was a really good showing from Jeebus. Being able to take a round off quail noises on a koth map is damn impressive – plus the game was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests. Jeebus put a lot of time onto the point every round and kept the game close. This was largely thanks to Comanglia (, Jeebus), who was able to tie Kev (, / ^ )>) in frags and in the SvS plus put out a little more damage than him, despite being on the losing team. If quail’s flank wasn’t so damn good Jeebus probably would have been able to take this game, but trying to stop yimi and sigh (, / ^ )>) seems a near impossible task. Jeebus’ flank put in a good effort, especially kairu who put out a respectable 28 – 20 with 355 dpm, but they couldn’t keep up with yimi and sigh who both tied for the top-fragging spot with 38 frags. Yimi especially was impressive, out damaging even sigh with 381 dpm and getting the most medic picks out of anyone. Finally, something you’ve heard a million times now, mae (, / ^ )>) top damaged by a mile with a massive 645 dpm.
VoxDei’s Writeup: Jeebus get out-DM’d pretty heavily here, but by the looks of the round times, Jeebus kept it fairly close. Only a few members of Jeebus were able to keep up with the quails here, specifically Comanglia and Ezrik doing putting up some solid stats for Kills and Damage respectively, but were mainly overshadowed by the flank of quails here. Sigh absolutely tore up the flank of Jeebus with an impressive 38 kills and 371 DPM and yet again, mae gets a mention for his damage stats with 645 despite not receiving any boost from Kritz- insane. Yimi gets my nod for MVP this week with his high-DPM, high-frag affair where he also managed 5 Med Picks. Voll also continues his streak of 0 ubers dropped in the 5 weeks he has played Medic.
Final result: appel won 4-3
meo’s Prediction: N/A
VoxDei’s Prediction: appel wins (4-3)
meo’s MVP: watterson ££
VoxDei’s MVP: Jayden appel
Match length + Logs: 41:59 // http://logs.tf/1295209
Cast: VoxDei + Mime https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eI1VOA_Qxg
meo’s Writeup: This was a very close game, going down to 3-3 and ££ getting their time on the point down to 50 seconds in the last round. The game was so close largely thanks to watterson, who top fragged and got a large amount of key picks for pepe. SmileZ, in usual fashion, was the winner of the SvS in this game however, coming out on top 12 to 8. Both Snipers played tremendously as well as everyone on both teams. Truly a great match.
VoxDei’s Writeup: Holy crap, I predicted a game correctly!? This game could not have gone better or been more exciting to watch. Papa’s Peddlers kept competitive every step of the way. In fact, 5 of the 7 rounds lasted over 5:30 each, so no team was heavily in control at any point. We saw strong defensive plays on either side with long hold times but Papa’s Peddlers seemed to have a bit harder of a time taking the point back once in Appel’s control. The watterson vs SmileZ duel was relatively even with watterson snagging an extra 6 kills and a solid amount more damage, but losing the SvS 8-12. SmileZ probably would have had an easier time if not for Proto focusing him down incessantly with 15 Sniper picks. This game was so close in DM that the damage literally differed by under 200. The combo for Appel did huge work keeping this game in their edge as well as Jayden who picked up the most Medic kills with 5 on the day. That mixed with his 40 kill outing is going to give him my MVP spot for the game.
Final result: sJ won 4-0
meo’s Prediction: KILLME wins (4-3)
VoxDei’s Prediction: sJ wins (4-1)
meo’s MVP: Evil sJ
VoxDei’s MVP: DynamoVic sJ
Match length + Logs: 25:43 // http://logs.tf/1297989
meo’s Writeup: I really overrated Meme Stealers in this one. True, all the rounds were close, with meme stealers putting a respectable amount of time on the point each round, but a 4-0 is a 4-0. I wasn’t wrong about sully (, KILLME) however, who did his best to carry his team, top fragging for them by a mile. Sadly for him, sJ was simply too good to yield to one good sniper, especially since dynamovic was more then able to keep up. Rob (, KILLME) and JJslim (, KILLME) put up a good fight as well, but with only themselves and their sniper seemingly up to the task of taking on sJ, their efforts fell flat. On the sJ side, there were a large number of standout performances. The most obvious, not shocking for lakeside, is Dynamovic (, sJ) who top fragged for the server and also won the SvS against sully. Evil (, sJ) was only two frags behind Dynamovic, which on Spy (even if it is lakeside) is pretty damn impressive. With four medic picks and seven Sniper picks, evil definitely did his job on Spy, plus racked up a hefty number of kills on every other class along the way. Next, sJ’s flank of coffemonster (, sJ) and crab_f (, sJ) also did extremely well, especially coffemonster who went 35 – 16 and reached a monumental 441 dpm as scout. Last, but not least, is carcin who also dropped a ridiculous amount of damage for the class he was playing – with 407 dpm plus 33 kills on goddamned heavy. With all sorts of absolutely amazing performances from everyone on sJ, it’s no wonder they won this match so handily.
VoxDei’s Writeup: Looking at the round times, this game was a lot closer than the 4-0 indicates. The Meme Stealers still managed to make sJ work for their win each round with over 6 minutes in all 4. Despite this, sJ took the DM handily with an extra 82 kills and 18000 Damage. The recent Sniper pickup for KILLME, Sullyy, managed to work out pretty well considering he took the top frag spot on their team and kept it competitive with DynamoVic who managed only a handful more kills and a close SvS at 11-9 in Dynamo’s favor. Sullyy was also the first player all season to drop Affliction late into the first round. Although there was a lot of strong competition on the sJ side, Dynamo will take the MVP spot here, top fragging and only being outdamaged by his Demo, while tying for the most Med picks during the game.
Final result: -ts- won 4-1
meo’s Prediction: -ts- wins (4-2)
VoxDei’s Prediction: -ts- wins (4-1)
meo’s MVP: Conner DOES IT
VoxDei’s MVP: DrZoidy -ts-
Match length + Logs: 33:22 // http://logs.tf/1295203
meo’s Writeup: Conner tried his absolute best in this game. He’s been underperforming most of the season, but with the fight for playoffs now here he’s really showing up. Conner out fragged all of his team by a mile and won the SvS against Jake (, -ts-) 9-3, while getting 16 more kills than him. With triiiple (, DOES IT) the only other member of DOES IT to go positive this game however, conner’s efforts ended up being in vain. With the entirety of -ts-’s combo performing well this game, it simply was too much for DOES IT. Beanie (, -ts-) top fragged for the entire server with 43 kills, DrZoidy (, -ts-) put out an insane 665 dpm and perception (, -ts-) put up a very respectable 30 – 23. After DrZoidy’s performance in this match on Demo, I’m interested to see if he can consistently do so well on Demo. His match against Shadowball this week should be a good test of his Demoman prowess!
VoxDei’s Writeup: Another crazy close matchup here despite the 4-1. In the first half, the round times were 7:13, 7:02, and a staggering 8:36 (maybe a pause?) Much needs to be said about Conner who absolutely came to play, racking up 40 kills, 401 DPM, and took the SvS handily 9-3. Conner’s performance was a huge part in what kept DOES IT in the game, followed closely by Super. On the -ts- side however beanie put up another monster performance, but tanked 32% of heals, edging out DrZoidy who had 31%, leaving the remaining 6 players to share 37%. DrZoidy had a great game (with the assist of some kritz) going 34-17 with 665 DPM, 8 Medic picks and a drop, moving from Scout to Demoman when exile left the team. DOES IT deserved a closer score line, but at the end of the day could not finish the rounds they kept so close.
Final result: Shadowball won 4-1
meo’s Prediction: ● wins (4-3)
VoxDei’s Prediction: Aw^ wins (4-2)
meo’s MVP: zoey ●
VoxDei’s MVP: zoey ●
Match length + Logs: 41:42 // http://logs.tf/1299689 (Probably inaccurate)
meo’s Writeup: With logs for this match an absolute mess we must turn to the dreaded wasteland that is sizzling stats. Why is there not a breakdown of kills? Why are there not accurate heal stats? Headshots and backstabs? Accuracy stats? aaaaaaaaaah. *ah hem* Anyway, complaining about sizzling stats aside, the story of this match seems to be a relatively simple one. In fact, I think I can sum it up in one brief sentence. Something along the lines of: zoey and lehcs killed everyone repeatedly and then Shadowball won. Yep, yeah, that seems about like it. With lehcs and zoey going absolutely off in this match, I’m honestly surprised that Aw^ even took a round. Aw^’s Sniper was not able to contest zoey at all and their flank was completely hopeless to stop lehcs. Those two are definitely the ones to look out for if Shadowball makes it to playoffs.
VoxDei’s Writeup: It looks like someone was able to get some semblance of the logs together, but with the server switching maps mid-round, I have to question whether or not they are completely accurate. The story still remains relatively the same, with Lehcs and Zoey tearing up for their team, and in fact, 6 members of Shadowball outfragging the entirety of Aw^. Shadowball looks to be returning to a playoff contending team with this win after their slide since Steel week. Sithreis’ non-presence was definitely felt, with their backup Soldier only managing 15 frags. Perhaps a weaker game by Aw^, but you cannot deny that Shadowball is back.
Final result: -aa- won 4-0
meo’s Prediction: U$A wins (4-2)
VoxDei’s Prediction: U$A wins (4-3)
meo’s MVP: N/A
VoxDei’s MVP: N/A
Match length + Logs: I think -aa- has given up on Logs
meo’s Writeup: Due to being denied a medic ringer, U$A were forced to play this game 8v9. There’s not a whole to say about a game where players were forced to offclass and play 8v9.
VoxDei’s Writeup: There isn’t much to say here that hasn’t already been beaten to death on the forums, but -aa- picks up an easy win here after a 9v8 game vs U$A.There are no real logs to gather the exact carnage that went down, but it went about as well as you’d expect an 8v9 to go.
Final result: father won 4-3
meo’s Prediction: No.2 wins (4-1)
VoxDei’s Prediction: No.2 wins (4-1)
meo’s MVP: Caboose father
VoxDei’s MVP: Caboose father
Match length + Logs: 40:10 // http://logs.tf/1296926
meo’s Writeup: Man I really did not expect father to win this one. With father’s entire season having been really grim, I presumed No.2 would have this game with no trouble. However, the game could not have been closer – with both teams tying each other with 285 kills and father just having slightly more damage. So, one damn close game where both team’s histories would suggest an easy win for No.2. Plus, egwat (, No.2) went off as expected, easily out sniping meatball (, father). So what exactly happened here? Caboose – caboose happened. Top fragging as heavy with 60 frags in a mere 40 minutes and putting out 419 dpm on heavy, jeez! Caboose and phone have always been statistically the best two players on father by far, but damn that’s fucking insane! 60 frags in 40 minutes plus 400 dpm on heavy, goddamn. Great job on caboose for being the deciding factor in this game, the guy is a monster on heavy. Now, of course caboose didn’t win the game by himself. Phone (, father), as expected, also did very well going 49 – 39 with 404 dpm. But the other player that did extremely well on father was dimwit (, father) who got 7 medic picks, 11 sniper picks, dropped 42 frags, only died 33 times and had 42% ambassador accuracy! Damn that’s an impressive line of stats. Definitely some really great performances from father to secure them their first win.
VoxDei’s Writeup: One of the two 4-3 games we saw this week came against a falling No.2 team with father getting their first earned win on the season. No.2 continued to prove that they are a strong enough team to belong in Gold, but were not able to take the game here. For once, we are not talking about phone as Caboose played out of his mind with 60 frags and 419 DPM as a Heavy which kept his team a cut above. No.2 had a solid outing all around. Brick put up some great numbers on Demo, Egwat slayed the SvS, PsychoMantis earned 43 assists to 18 deaths with nearly 1200HPM, and they managed to make Gandalf drop 3 times, twice to Puppy21. Despite this, playing the point is what Lakeside is all about, and with Caboose cleaning up incessantly, one can gather that father’s defense was way too strong to let No.2 roll over them even when outmatched in that sense. To note, however, the frags ended dead even while father did an extra 7000 damage, so the high performers on No.2 overshadowed the bulk of their team.
Final result: IFA won 4-0
meo’s Prediction: IFA wins (4-1)
VoxDei’s Prediction: IFA wins (4-1)
meo’s MVP: wish IFA
VoxDei’s MVP: wish IFA
Match length + Logs: 21:32 // http://logs.tf/1296927
meo’s Writeup: IFA finally wins a match and my sanity gets to remain intact. Besides cynex (, TOPGUN) going 31 – 24 for TOPGUN, this game was a rather grim one for everyone on TOPGUN. In short, they kind of got rolled – which isn’t surprising. With fatswimdude having left, not only was TOPGUN’s flank much much weaker, but I’m sure everyone on TOPGUN was really discouraged about their roster falling apart. IFA was able to take advantage of the weakened state of TOPGUN and easily took the game 4-0, with good performances from all their dm classes. Wish in particular, who dropped 46 frags in only 21 minutes – jeez. Seems like TOPGUN simply got out dm’ed here.
VoxDei’s Writeup: It took some coaxing, but finally we see IFA take a game they were supposed to win. They take the win over the last-ranked #TOPGUN, but hey- a win’s a win when you’re struggling. Cynex, try as he might, was really the only member of #TOPGUN who could contend with weaker performances out of their usual crew. Sprok did what he could as well, with a solid K/D and 3 Med picks in this short game. Apart from a couple players, very few stand-outs were on IFA. Wish absolutely demolished everything with 46 frags, 500 DPM, and 4 Med picks, and the rest of the crew were left to try and share the players he left alive. His huge performance lifts his team to a quick 4-0.
The final week of the UGC season is upon us and the 4-3 and 3-4 teams are fighting for placement within seeds 4-8 with 4 teams sitting at 5-2 and above. We’re going to see some really important matchups to determine seeding, specifically All Washed Up vs Baited by Rhy. A huge thank you goes out to LOCAL TOP GUN who were unreadied after last week’s match, but is back for Week 8, allowing U$A to play out the season after their circumstances during their Lakeside match.
(Home team vs Visiting Team)
meo’s Prediction: / ^ )> wins 2-0
VoxDei’s Prediction: / ^ )> wins 2-0
meo’s Player(s) to watch: appel – bunny , Drunk uncle , SmileZ | / ^ )>- yimi , sigh , mae
VoxDei’s Player(s) to watch: appel – bunny , Vipa , SmileZ | / ^ )>- sigh , mae , Kev
meo’s Writeup: Kev has been rapidly improving on sniper as the season goes on, which I suppose shouldn’t be particularly surprising from a high level scout. I don’t think he’ll be able to keep up with appel’s sniper, Smilez, though. If Smilez really goes off in this match there’s potential for appel to win a half, but I really don’t see appel having any chance of taking this game. With mae leading the combo and sigh and yimi there to create space if quail’s combo ever fails, I think we will be seeing some very fast times from quails on offense that appel simply won’t be able to keep up with.
VoxDei’s Writeup: Last week, yung SmileZ proved to me that he’s able to contend with the best Snipers in Gold (sorry for sleeping on you, kid.) That said, the rust that Kev showed in the beginning of the season seems to have faded as he’s hit a groove. I’m predicting a 2-0 for quails, but a relatively close 2-0. It’s hard to bet against a team with sigh and mae who should be able to make quick work of sentries and appel’s combo, unless American significantly can impact ubers. SmileZ should be able to make big picks to keep them in the game and with Pomf bound to spam Ambassador shots, it will give Appel’s combo one less thing to worry about (yet SmileZ one more.) Appel has shown their worth throughout the season and have contended well even in their losses, but their wins against the top teams have been close as well. With quails a cut above other Top 5 teams, they should be able to take this from appel.
meo’s Prediction: sJ wins (2-0)
VoxDei’s Prediction: sJ wins (2-0)
meo’s Player(s) to watch: sJ – goldfish , carcin , DynamoVic | -aa- – octa
VoxDei’s Player(s) to watch: sJ- goldfish , Affliction , evil | -aa- – Octa , Gamemaster
meo’s Writeup: Alphabet Alliterations doesn’t have much of a chance here. There’s some talk about sJ off-classing, which might make things closer, but presuming sJ play their mains it seems kind of hopeless for -aa-. With goldfish and carcin on the combo holding down the cliff and DynamoVic having a field day against milk (, -aa-), I have the feeling that -aa- may struggle to even cap first when on offense. Even if they do, sJ’s defense is going to be rock solid on every point. Expect some crazy long holds out of sJ and an offense at least under five minutes.
VoxDei’s Writeup: Social Justice Warriors should be able to coast their way into a 7-1 season. -aa- is far from a bad team, but they just seem outmatched on every level at this point. The only saving grace for -aa- is Gamemaster’s experience on Engie, but sJ’s combo should be able to make quick work with Goldfish on the other side of Ubers. -aa- has been able to contend with the middle of the division, but sJ has taken down almost every top team this season with the exception of #1 -quail noises-. Whether sJ decided to go with Affliction, whose numbers for Medic are among the top of the division, or fishylin, their long standing Medic, they should be able to take a quick 2-0 here.
meo’s Prediction: Jeebus wins (2-0)
VoxDei’s Prediction: Jeebus wins (2-1)
meo’s Player(s) to watch: Jeebus – kairu , Comanglia | KILLME- rob , Sullyy
VoxDei’s Player(s) to watch: Jeebus– Ezrik , Comanglia | KILLME- JJSlim , shotaway
meo’s Writeup: An interesting matchup, only because Jeebus already has their spot in playoffs secured while Meme Stealers may not make it unless they win this match. Meme Stealers certainly has a lot more to fight for here, but I’m sure Jeebus still wants the best seed they can get going into playoffs. Besides, Jeebus is miles ahead of Meme Stealers as a team. Although rob is sure to do a lot of work on the flank, it’s Payload so a scout won’t be nearly enough to win KILLME this match. Sullyy will put up a good fight against Comanglia, but I think Comanglia will come out on top of the Sniper duel here. With their two best players* unlikely to be able to make enough of an impact in this game, the much more experienced and overall more balanced roster of Jeebus should easily take this.
*besides maybe alto but medic can’t carry
VoxDei’s Writeup: Jeebus has proved to be a solid Stopwatch team, winning on all 3 so far this season. Meme Stealers have been improving rapidly, rebounding from their original 0-2 start with 4 straight wins. Now sitting at 4-3, they control their destiny to get into playoffs, who would guarantee it with a win, and should be close enough if they pull a round, worth 2.5 match points. Jeebus is still a strong team with Ezrik on Demo and Comanglia sniping, but they are not without their weaknesses in DM which have been exploited on two of the KOTH maps this season. Expect some high-power plays by the flank of KILLME, but for Jeebus to reign supreme with their superior coordination.
meo’s Prediction: ● wins (2-1)
VoxDei’s Prediction: -ts- wins (2-1)
meo’s Player(s) to watch: -ts- – dogfloaties , DrZoidy , beanie | ● – lehcs , Unicorn Wizard , zoey
VoxDei’s Player(s) to watch: -ts- – SpecDeck , beanie , Jake | ● – Coco , brick , zoey
meo’s Writeup: I’d say this game is probably the match of the week. With shadowball fighting for a spot in playoffs, they’re sure to bring their absolute best to this game. As long as zoey brings out another one of her amazing performances that she’s been having throughout the entire season, she should out snipe Jake easily. Plus, with lehcs and Unicorn Wizard, Shadowball has a huge advantage in any fights that take place on the flank. As things have gotten worse and worse roster wise for -ts-, the only part of their team that still performs seems to be their combo. Beanie has continued to perform well throughout the entire season and DrZoidy, although newly moved to Demo, absolutely destroyed DOES IT last week. Snook (, -ts-), another new addition to their roster, has been doing well on medic and lastly perception (, -ts-) is one hell of a Pyro and is scary whether playing with the combo or on the flank. If all four members of -ts-‘s combo can have a good game, then I could see -ts- taking a round here. If their entire combo performs AND Jake plays a lot better than he has this season so far and doesn’t get totally rolled by zoey, then -ts- could maybe even take this game. However, I really see a win for Shadowball here being the much more likely outcome.
VoxDei’s Writeup: Shadowball’s roster has stabilized it seems, or maybe just forced to stabilize now that rosters are locked. Still, they seem to be in good form, taking down Aw^ 4-1 last week and are looking more like the 3-0 team in the beginning of the season. -ts- is still rocky, despite being able to take down Baited by Rhy with relative ease last week, but scrambles to fill spots hours before rosters locked will prove to be difficult. Shadowball should be able to capitalize on the waning chemistry of -ts-, but I don’t think they’ll have the stuff to take the full game here, but I’m always game for surprises.
meo’s Prediction: DOES IT wins (2-1)
VoxDei’s Prediction: DOES IT wins (2-1)
meo’s Player(s) to watch: ● – b1am , sithreis , Sharpshot | DOES IT – juicy , super , conner
VoxDei’s Player(s) to watch: Aw^ – Sithreis , doxed | DOES IT – Rhy , waterr
Bet on Saloon!: https://saloon.tf/match/184
meo’s Writeup: Both teams need to win this game to get into playoffs. If DOES IT wins, they’re guaranteed a spot in playoffs. If Aw^ wins and matchups go the right way for them, then they could get in at 8th seed. With both teams fighting to keep their season alive, this should be an interesting one. Conner had a very sharp spike in performance in their last match against -ts- last week, absolutely obliterating Jake (, -ts-) on Lakeside. If he can continue this trend, then DOES IT should be able to walk away with a clean 2-0 here. If Conner doesn’t however, then I think we could be seeing a close game here. With sharpshot able to contest DOES IT’s combo, and the flank’s of super + juicy and sithreis + b1am being fairly evenly matched, I think this game really will come down a lot to the Sniper duel. No pressure doxed and conner!
VoxDei’s Writeup: Anyone who doesn’t think this is going to be a good game is not paying attention to teams outside the Top 5. This match will actually be a huge part in determining the placement and seeding of teams in the last few playoff spots, including teams outside of these two. They’ve had a pretty solid season, finding losses to three Top 5 teams, but have been able to capitalize over the middle of the division. Aw^ however has really only taken games over the bottom few, but kept it competitive. With their recent addition of smobo on Scout, their high-performing Soldier, Sithreis, should be able to do even more work. With that in mind, the edge on flank is on the Aw^ side. The combo for DOES IT, including Rhy and Triiiple should be able to outmatch doppel and Sharpshot, but expect it to be a relatively close one there. The game should end up being damn close, but DOES IT’s performance week after week, even in their losses has me thinking they are a strong enough team to take a W here.
meo’s Prediction: N/A
VoxDei’s Prediction: ££ wins (2-0)
meo’s Player(s) to watch: N/A
VoxDei’s Player(s) to watch: father- phone , caboose | ££ – Max , watterson
meo’s Writeup: N/A
VoxDei’s Writeup: ££ has an IFA-like habit this season of losing games against teams they should beat or allowing them to get too close, but I think they should be too fired up here to let this happen. father has put together an odd sequence of events this season which have lead to a Bye win and a FFW, only earning their first last week. Although their combo is strong, Max over on the ££ side has been absolutely huge this season, making use of the absurd amount of heals he gets from his Medic, tiptoes. With watterson sure to capitalize on a weaker father team, I’m expecting him to be a huge hand in allowing ££ to surge through this victory and do enough to land themselves into a playoff berth.
meo’s Prediction: IFA wins (2-1)
VoxDei’s Prediction: IFA wins (2-1)
meo’s Player(s) to watch: No.2 – beep! , egwat | IFA – wish , TERRY CREWS , pie_hero
VoxDei’s Player(s) to watch: No.2 – Brick Hughouse , egwat | IFA – wish , TUNE
meo’s Writeup: Once again, this is IFA’s game to lose. With this being the last season of Highlander for likely multiple IFA players, I feel like they’ll at least want to finish things off at a 4-4 record. Look out for egwat to be the main force contesting IFA. If he can really go off, then No.2 might take a round or even win the game. Although IFA definitely has the much stronger roster in this matchup, how much they care seems to be the question at this point whether then if they’re better or not.
VoxDei’s Writeup: The “Kings of Throw” are back for the final week of UGC and are going to come up against a disappointed No.2 team. No.2 towards the beginning of the season looked like a team poised to snag a 4-4 record, but have fallen to 2-5 with their final matchup coming against IFA. IFA has a good chance of taking the win, but with egwat looking down the scope for No.2, you never feel safe walking around. Assuming pie_hero plays, their Sniper duel should be close, but with egwat getting the better of him by the end of it. The high-powered team of IFA including TERRY CREWS on whatever he feels like playing that week is sure to put up some great numbers and will most likely win this due to their experience. Despite that, No.2 is not a team to sleep on at this point, especially with IFA’s struggles all season.
meo’s Prediction: U$A wins (2-1)
VoxDei’s Prediction: U$A wins (2-0)
meo’s Player(s) to watch: U$A – kezia , Campy | #TOPGUN- deft , WiLLmaTiC
VoxDei’s Player(s) to watch: U$A – kezia , keeg , Campy | #TOPGUN- cynex , Computer , WiLLmaTiC
meo’s Writeup: With neither team having a shot at playoffs, there isn’t a whole lot to fight for here besides pride. I think this game honestly will come down to who cares more. If WiLLmaTiC still cares enough to deliver one last great performance, then maybe TOPGUN will win. If Campy and kezia want to fight harder than WiLLmaTiC to not be a 2-6 team, then perhaps U$A will win. I feel really bad seeing both these teams in this position, as both of them had potential and some really good players on their roster, but things just didn’t quite click for either team. Let’s hope everyone on both teams can have one last good game to round out the season. I especially hope players like WiLLmaTiC, Campy and kezia don’t give up because of this discouraging season of Gold: you all are really good and have a ton of potential!
VoxDei’s Writeup: First off, shout out to TOPGUN for finishing out the season. After U$A’s unfortunate 8v9 last week, TOPGUN was un-readied and it appeared they would be taking a Bye for the final week. However, TOPGUN ended up deciding to play one more week which will allow each team to have one more romp before rebuilding in the offseason. Both teams have standout players, but I believe that U$A just has more on their belt with kezia, keeg, and Campy- all big fraggers. TOPGUN has rested mainly on cynex, WiLLmaTiC and fatswimdude before his departure, but U$A is better where it counts on Payload. WiLLmaTiC should take the SvS with force, but the combo of U$A should make quick work of any defenses put up by TOPGUN, but Computer’s experience should help them out in this department. Expect a close 2-0 between these two.
